NOBLE PALACE IN THE HISTORICAL CENTER OF CONVERSANO
Christie's International Real Estate offers for sale a one-of-a-kind property, Palazzo Accolti Gil. The building located in the city of Conversano, in the south-eastern territory of the province of Bari and about 5 km from Polignano a Mare, is located in the highest part of the town, near the Aragonese Castle and the cathedral. The building was built in 1607 by Biagio Accolti on land made available by Caterina Acquaviva d'Aragona, mother of the famous Guercio of Puglia, Giangirolamo Acquaviva and was restored in 1777 under the guidance of the famous architect Giuseppe Gimma who embellished the façade and the interiors with the finishes that we currently find as spectacular frescoes showing exotic flora and fauna immersed in classic landscapes.
The building is spread over three levels. In the cellars, with a 5 m high barrel vault, there was a mill, of which the original stone bases of the remaining millstones testify to its existence.
The first floor, or main floor, features a series of living rooms with frescoed ceilings, still in excellent condition today, which reveal the magnificence that the palace once enjoyed.
The second floor is divided into various apartments of different sizes with terraces from which it is possible to enjoy a panoramic view of the roofs of the town, the rose window of the cathedral and the main tower of the Aragonese Castle.
